I'm always tired even after sleeping 8 hours. Why is this happening?
I've been getting 7-8 hours of sleep every night for the past few months but I still wake up feeling exhausted. I drink coffee all day just to function. I'm 32, not overweight, and I exercise 3 times a week. My doctor said my bloodwork is normal. What else could be causing this? I'm really frustrated.

I totally get this frustration. Normal bloodwork rules out a lot, but there are still several common causes most doctors don't dig into deeply enough.
First, check your sleep quality, not just quantity. If you're waking up multiple times (even briefly), you're not getting restorative deep sleep. Consider getting a sleep study — sleep apnea is shockingly common even in non-overweight people, especially men. A simple $100 home sleep test can reveal this.
Second, look at your diet and timing. Eating heavy meals within 2 hours of bed destroys sleep quality. Also check your iron, ferritin, B12, and vitamin D levels specifically — standard panels often don't include these and deficiencies cause massive fatigue even when everything else looks \"normal.\"
Third, consider chronic stress and cortisol. High cortisol disrupts sleep architecture even if you're sleeping 8 hours. Try cutting caffeine after 12pm and adding 10 minutes of morning sunlight exposure.
Finally, if nothing works, ask your doctor for a referral to a sleep specialist. This changed my life — I had mild sleep apnea I never would have caught otherwise.
