My Google AdSense earnings dropped 80% this month

I've been running AdSense on my blog for about 8 months and things were going steady at around $400/month. This month I'm looking at like $70. I didn't change anything on my site. Did Google do another update or am I getting penalized?

An 80% drop with no changes on your end usually points to one of a few things. First, check if it's seasonal — certain niches (like finance, insurance, or tech) see massive CPM drops in certain months because advertisers pull back. Next, log into AdSense and check for any policy violations or limited ads notifications. Google sometimes limits ad serving on pages they consider low quality even if you don't see a manual action. Also check your traffic sources — if you lost a chunk of organic traffic (maybe an algorithm update hit you), that directly impacts earnings. Check Google Search Console for any coverage issues. Another thing: if you recently switched ad formats or blocked certain ad types, that could reduce fill rate. Finally, make sure you haven't accidentally blocked ads with an ad blocker or privacy extension while testing your own site. That one's embarrassing but it happens more often than you'd think.
