My Instagram account got shadowbanned. How do I fix it?

My Instagram posts used to get 500-1000 likes. Now suddenly they're getting 50-80 likes and my content isn't showing up in hashtags or explore. I haven't posted anything inappropriate. I think I got shadowbanned. Is there a fix?

First, let's confirm it's actually a shadowban. Go to your most recent post, tap the three dots, and select "Hide from Profile." Search for your exact username from a different account. If your post doesn't show up, you're shadowbanned. If it does, it's just an algorithm change.

If you are shadowbanned, here's how to recover. Step 1: Stop posting for 48-72 hours. Step 2: Delete any recent posts that used banned or flagged hashtags. Step 3: Remove any third-party apps that have access to your account (use Instagram's built-in tool to review app permissions). Step 4: Switch to a personal account if you're on a business account, or vice versa.

After the break, post original content — no reposts, no Reels with watermarks from TikTok, no obvious engagement bait. Use 5-10 relevant hashtags, not 30. Engage genuinely with other accounts for 15 minutes before and after posting.

Recovery usually takes 7-14 days. If after 2 weeks nothing changes, appeal through Instagram's help center. Most shadowbans are temporary and caused by flagged hashtags or third-party app access.
