My laptop battery only lasts 2 hours now

My MacBook Pro is only 2 years old but the battery now dies after 2 hours. When I bought it, it lasted 8-10 hours easily. Is this normal or is something wrong?

Two years in and down to 2 hours is definitely not normal — your battery health should still be above 85% at that point. Check it: click the Apple logo > About This Mac > System Report > Power. Look for "Cycle Count" and "Condition." If condition says "Service" or is below 80%, Apple will replace it for free under warranty (they cover batteries that drop below 80% within the first few years). If you're out of warranty, a battery replacement costs $199-249 at Apple. But before you pay, try these: 1) Reset the SMC (Shutdown, hold Shift+Control+Option+Power for 10 seconds). This recalibrates the battery. 2) Check Activity Monitor for any apps using excessive CPU — background processes drain battery fast. 3) Lower your screen brightness to 50%. 4) Turn off Bluetooth and WiFi when not needed. 5) Check your battery cycles — if it's over 1000 cycles, it's naturally worn out. A 2-year-old MacBook shouldn't be this degraded unless you use it heavily daily. Get it checked by Apple.
