Should I quit my job to start a business?

I've been working a corporate marketing job for 4 years and I have an idea for an online store. I've been saving about $15k and I have no debt. My partner thinks I'm crazy but I feel like if I don't do it now I never will. What do you think?

This is the classic "leap of faith" question and I'll give you the honest answer: don't quit yet, but start building on the side. Here's why — $15k is not enough runway for most businesses. You need at least 6 months of personal expenses saved, plus startup costs. If your monthly expenses are $3k, you need $18k just to survive, and that's before your business makes a single dollar. Instead, validate your idea first. Build a simple landing page, run some Facebook ads for $200, see if anyone actually buys. If you get 10-20 paying customers, you have something real. Then you can make an informed decision. Also, talk to your partner seriously about this — not as "watch me be brave" but as a business plan with numbers. If they're not on board, the stress will kill your marriage AND your business. The best entrepreneurs don't quit blindly — they test, validate, then commit.
