Why does my WiFi keep disconnecting at night?
Every night between 2-4 AM my WiFi drops and I have to restart my router. It's fine all day. I've tried moving the router, changing the channel, and updating firmware. Nothing works. My ISP says it's not their problem. What else can I try?

This is actually a really specific problem with a few likely causes. First, your router might be overheating. Check if it's in a closed cabinet or stacked on other electronics. Routers need airflow. Try standing it up vertically and keeping it away from walls.
Second, your ISP might be doing maintenance or updates during those hours. Call them back and specifically ask if there are any scheduled maintenance windows between 2-4 AM. They'll know.
Third, it could be a neighbor's router interfering. At night, when fewer networks are active, certain channels get less crowded but some devices auto-switch and cause conflicts. Try setting your router to a fixed channel instead of auto. Channels 1, 6, or 11 on 2.4GHz are best.
Fourth, check if any device on your network is scheduled to update or backup at 2 AM. Smart TVs, security cameras, and gaming consoles often do this and can overwhelm the router. Disable auto-updates on all devices.
If nothing works, buy a mesh system or a dedicated access point. Sometimes the router hardware is just failing and needs replacing. A $60 router from TP-Link can solve years of frustration.
